Doubleview Vet Centre is a vet practice located in Western Australia, with a team of over twenty staff. In a typical week, the practice usually checks in more than 150 patients, administers dozens of vaccines and submits several samples to pathology labs for further investigation.

“We're a very busy clinic, so it's in our best interest to have everyone doing things efficiently so we can get more through the doors,” says Dr. Natalie Rogerson, Doubleview Vet’s practice director.

They started using Vedi in 2023 to streamline workflows in their clinic and increase the efficiency of common tasks so that their team could spend more time on patient care and consults.

Here is how Doubleview Vet transformed their clinic operations with Vedi:

1. Microchip-linked records eliminated manual errors, which improved accuracy

It all starts as soon as a pet arrives at the clinic.

As part of the pet check-in process, the Doubleview Vet Centre staff scan the pet’s microchip with Vedi scanners. Any treatment or process recorded on Vedi is locked to the pet’s microchip, using the number as its unique identifier.

This ensures reliable documentation and reduces the risk of errors across common procedures that are performed dozens of times every day, like vaccinations, pathology, and registrations.

“We have incredibly busy days where we need everything running as smoothly as possible, so accuracy is important. With the patient identification going through the microchip, it's a much more accurate way of recording things rather than risk mix-ups,” says Dr. Natalie.

With Vedi, Doubleview Vets now have precise, time-stamped and verifiable medical records for over 5,000 pet patients that have come through their doors.

2. Less clerical burden, which also improved customer experience

Reducing low-value tasks like tedious paperwork helped create a smoother experience for both staff and clients.

Before using Vedi, one seemingly minor but frustrating aspect of administering vaccines was the paper booklet that they were recorded in. It created a constant headache for everyone.

According to Dr. Natalie, it’s a relief not to have to deal with them.

“One tangible benefit is the clients not needing the vaccine booklets anymore, because nobody remembered them anyway. They appreciate not having to bring them to every appointment.”

A consequence of not bringing the booklets meant that the Doubleview staff had to fill in a vaccination certificate, wait for it to print, get the stickers on and sign it. They would also get extra clinic pop-ins when a vet would have to be interrupted and asked to sign a vaccine booklet that the client forgot to bring on their last visit.

Now, with Vedi, paper booklets are a thing of the past. As soon as their pet gets a vaccine, Doubleview Vet customers receive a digital vaccination certificate in their email, verified by the vet. “I’d say in that regard, it definitely saves us time,” says Dr. Natalie.

Similarly, for pathology, Vedi eliminates busywork tasks that are not only time-consuming but also prone to human error, like writing labels for pathology samples or calling a courier to come and collect the samples.

“It’s really good for things not slipping through the cracks with the pathology samples,” adds Dr. Natalie.

3. Integrated workflows eliminated duplication and improved time management

Vedi works seamlessly with Doubleview Vet’s existing software, cutting down admin and reducing duplicate data entry.

“The [Vedi] software integrates really nicely with ezyVet,” says Dr. Natalie. “It definitely gives the nurses more motivation to scan every single patient that's coming in because they're using that for recording arrivals as well.”

The scans have an added benefit of picking up on unregistered microchips, which the nurses or reception staff can address by bringing it to the owner’s attention and then facilitating registration on the spot through Vedi.

To date, Doubleview Vet has registered hundreds of microchips using Vedi, which integrates with national registry databases to help clinics register pets in under 30 seconds with zero paperwork involved.

At a busy clinic like Doubleview, every minute counts.

That’s why Vedi helps clinics run more efficiently by improving accuracy, saving time, and lightening the load for everyone involved. For practice directors like Dr. Natalie, it means running a clinic that’s better for staff, clients, and pets alike.
